Pax Islamica Journal of Islamic Studies - How to Study Islam Today?

A “round table” aims to discuss methodological challenges emerging to nowadays Islamic studies, both academic and applied one, in Russia. We are planning to focus on such questions as:

- What kind of knowledge about Islam is needed in contemporary Russian society and what particular purposes it meets?

- What are key problems which define a subjects field of today’s Islamic studies?

- What methodological approaches and particular research methods are in focus of current academic discussions?

- How do academic and applied fields of Islamic studies correlate within the process of their interaction with the newly reconstructing sphere of Islamic education in Russia and traditional centers if Islamic knowledge around the world?

The “round table” will be held in a form of a free discussion.
