Chetki 2009/4

An almanac celebrates the second centenary of Nikolai V. Gogol's birth and  continues discussing the subject of religiousness in the Russian classical literature, wihich is  represented in  several essays on Gogol's philosophic views.

Pavel V. Basharins: "We should see into Gogol's quintessence of understanding the Qur'an an indicative for the Russian culture. In fact this is the first systematic description of postulates and regulations of the Holy Qur'an, done by a Russian literary man and meant for the general public. Pushkin's vision does not claim either to analyse a significance of the Qur'an in the World culture, or holistic comprehension of its text."

The issue also introduces to wide readership almost unknown modern Saudi poets. Among names there are Muhammad Hasan Faji, Muhammad Hasan Awwad, Latifa Qari, Ibrahim al-Husein, Muhammad as-Subaiti and others.

The last part of "Three Opinions about the Man Who Came from Nowhere" by Nader Ebrahimi is also included.
