The book completes a series of document collections shedding light on confessional policy of the Soviet state toward Islam in 1944-1990. The editor gathered and commented first and foremost archival files of the Ail-Union Council for Affairs of the Religious Cults (1944-1965) and its successor Council for Affairs of the Religions (1965-1990). These are official reports, surveys, memoranda, records of conversations with religious leaders, different data relating to the "foreign" Islam etc. All published materials are of high educative value.
